Description

A perfect example of Varana’s east-meets-west philosophy, our craftsmen have scattered tiny mirrors and embroidered motifs across this dress, inspired by the ancient traditions of the mirror work technique practiced by the Rabari tribe in the Kutch desert of India. Expertly cut, this is a timeless and flattering silhouette. The draped neck skims the shoulders and dips just below the shoulder blades. The fluid jersey fabric is both flattering and comfortable.

Model is 5 feet 9 inches and wears UK size 6

Techniques & Inspiration
Mirrors or 'abhla' are an inherent part of many embroidery styles used by artisan communities in the Kutch desert of India. Each tribe uses mirrors and beads in different ways to embellish their intricate stitches and patterns, adding tiny glints of light to the fabric. The mirrors are thought to represent water – the most important resource in the desert.
