Bandhani-inspired silk jacquard dress
This is the perfect dress for any formal occasion, guaranteed to be a talking point. The striking print is inspired by the artisanal Bandhani tie-and-dye technique from India. Tiny, red circular motifs are dotted on a grid of rich blue silk to create a beautifully textured background. The top is artfully shaped into a peplum and the full folds of the attached skirt contrast perfectly with the cinched waist.
The dipping low back adds an unexpected glamorous twist and makes this dress a truly standout piece.

‘Bandhani' is a form of fine tie-and-dye that originated centuries ago in the Kutch desert in India and is still practiced by artisanal communities in the region. The term Bandhani is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘bandhan’ or ‘tie’.
Craftswomen, working from their homes, painstakingly tie small knots in fabric. The tied fabric resists the dye and the result is intricate, circular patterns, the exact form of which depends on how the tying was done.
We have taken inspiration from this technique and created bespoke heavy silk jacquards, woven with the tiny, circular motifs characteristic of the traditional Bandhani process.
