Description

Custom-designed fabrics set Varana apart and this jacket is no exception. Crafted from a fresh, eggshell blue, silk jacquard, the pattern of the textile is inspired by the famed 'Bandhani' tie-and-dye technique from India. Tiny, white circular motifs are dotted on a tonal grid to create a background that is subtle and striking at the same time. The boxy, unstructured fit is comfortable, falls to mid-thigh and adds an elegant layer to almost anything
Throw over white pants or jeans to complete the polished, laidback look.

Model is 5 feet 9 inches and wears UK Size 6

Techniques & Inspiration
'Bandhani' is a form of fine tie-and-dye that originated centuries ago in the Kutch desert in India and is still practiced by artisanal communities in the region. The term Bandhani is derived from the Sanskrit word 'bandhan' or 'tie'. Craftswomen, working from their homes, painstakingly tie small knots in fabric. The tied fabric resists the dye and the result is intricate, circular patterns, the exact form of which depends on how the tying was done. We have taken inspiration from this technique and created bespoke silk jacquards, woven with the tiny, circular motifs that are similar to those created by the Bandhani process.
