Ajrakh-inspired silk jacquard trousers
These cropped trousers are expertly cut from a custom-designed, silk jacquard. In keeping with Varana’s philosophy of artisanal luxury, the pattern of the textile is inspired by the traditional Ajrakh block-printing technique from the Kutch desert region in India. The geometric motifs and red and blue palette usually associated with the technique, have been reimagined afresh. A tonal embroidered stripe down the sides adds contrast. Combine with a bohemian blouse in a complementary shade of blue or add a matching jacket, to complete the luxe artisanal look.
Model is 5 feet 9 inches and wears UK size 6
''Ajrakh' is an extremely complex, artisanal technique of woodblock printing and resist dyeing that dates back as early as 2000 BC with the Indus Valley civilisation. A living craft, it continues to be practiced in the desert regions of Sindh in Pakistan and Kutch in Western India.
This bespoke silk jacquard has been designed in Varana's own studio and woven with motifs inspired by the 'Ajrakh' technique.
