We take inspiration from time-honored crafts and reimagine them on new fabrics and modern silhouettes. The pattern on these striking silk-jacquard trousers is based on a block printing technique called Ajrakh, which originated centuries ago and is still practiced by artisan communities in the Kutch desert of India.

The deep navy background is the perfect foil for the rich gold motifs. The trousers are sharply tailored with straight legs and front zipper opening. Pair with a matching trench to complete the luxe artisanal look.

Model is 5 feet 9 inches / 175 cm and wears UK size. 6

Techniques & Inspiration

'Ajrakh' is an extremely complex, artisanal technique of woodblock printing and resist dyeing that dates back as early as 2000 BC with the Indus Valley civilisation. A living craft, it continues to be practiced in the desert regions of Sindh in Pakistan and Kutch in Western India.

This contemporary bespoke fabric has been designed in Varana's own studio and woven with motifs inspired by the 'Ajrakh' technique.
