This gorgeous silk jacquard bolero combines influences from the east and west to make a bold style statement. The custom-designed fabric is based on the motifs of a block printing technique called Ajrakh, which originated centuries ago and is still practiced by artisan communities in the Kutch desert of India. The deep navy background is the perfect foil for the rich, gold, geometric motifs.

An intricately embroidered panel runs along the neck and front to add the final glamorous touch. It is lined with 100% silk in a contrasting saffron hue.

Model is 5 feet 9 inches / 175cm and wears UK Size 6.

Techniques & Inspiration

'Ajrakh' is an extremely complex, artisanal technique of woodblock printing and resist dyeing that dates back as early as 2000 BC with the Indus Valley civilisation. A living craft, it continues to be practiced in the desert regions of Sindh in Pakistan and Kutch in Western India.

This contemporary bespoke fabric has been designed in Varana's own studio and woven with motifs inspired by the 'Ajrakh' technique.
